Texas Stars at Regionals

Texas Acro had a stellar performance at Region 3 Championships, capturing dozens of titles. We also had a great showing in the regional awards — Texas winners are shown in blue.

2014 Regional Awards:

  • Coach of the year: Vladi Vladev (AGSA)
  • Athletes of the Year: Jessica Renteria and Maren Merwarth (AGSA)
  • Star Service: Michelle Merwarth (AGSA)

Judges Awards: 

  • Highest Score (Lv 5-6): Lv 6 WP AGSA Suarez/Atkins
  • Highest score (Lv 7 & above): Lv 9 WG CCG Planchet, Guillot & Conway
  • Most original skill: Lv 10 WP CCG Seither & Schultz (H2H 4/4 down to knee)
  • Most difficult skill: Jr MxP CCG Hughs & Scott-Brown (Balance 1st combination)
  • Best Artistic Performance (Lv 6-8): Lv 7 MxP AGSA Merwarth/Merwarth
  • Best Artistic Performance (Lv 9-elite): Lv 10 WG USAAA Marlow/Traina/Losoya

Class of 2014

Texas Acro was pleased to recognize the graduating seniors for the Class of 2014 at the Texas State Championships. These athletes have been involved with acrobatic gymnastics for many years and we wish them the best as they head on to the next chapter of their lives. We are so thankful to have role models like these young ladies for our up and coming acrobats!

Jessica Renteria (AGSA)
• Competed in acro for 8 years
• Currently 13-19 Junior Elite WP
• Graduated “Cum Laude” from San Antonio Christian Schools
• National Society of High School Scholars
• Gold Medal in Belgium (Flanders International Acro Cup)
• Will compete in Paris, France World-Age Group Competition
• Next year will attend college and continue to compete as a Senior Elite WP

Brianne Adams (TAAG)
• Competed in acro for 3 years
• Graduated in the top 11% from from Atascocita High School
• Member of the National Honor Society
• Travels to Slovakia every summer to help the children there learn more about Christ
• Will be attending Texas A&M in the fall

Rachel Jones (USAAA)
• Competed in artistic gymnastics through level 7 and in acro for 2 years
• Graduating from Pemhaven Academy (homeschool program)
• National Champion L7 trio 2013
• Debate finalist in World View Academy
• Pianist and Violist in the YOSA Symphony (Youth Orchestra of San Antonio).
• Plans for next year – gap year between high school and college-internship, speech and debate club, traveling, and college preparation
