Congratulations Class of 2019

Every year Texas Acro is proud to recognize the graduating seniors in our sport. These athletes have been involved with acrobatic gymnastics for many years and we wish them the best as they head on to the next chapter of their lives. We are so thankful to have role models like these young athletes for our up and coming acrobats!

From Acrobatic Gymnastics of San Antonio:

Kaeylarae Brogden

  • Kaeyla has been in acro for three years and is currently in a Jr Elite 12-18 women’s pair with her partner, Millie Hernandez.
  • In 2018, her Jr Elite 12-18 trio was national champion and competed in Canada
  • Before acro, she competed as an artistic gymnast through level 9
  • Kaeyla is currently homeschooled and will graduate with a 4.0 GPA.
  • She plans to continue training in acro while starting college next year, and she hopes to have a career in pediatric nursing

Timothy Massa

  • Tim has been in acro for six years and is currently in a Jr Elite 13-19 mixed pair
  • He and his partner, Jordan Gruendler, have been on the Junior National team for the past two years.
  • They represented Team USA at the 2018 Age-Group World Championship in Antwerp, Belgium, and were also ambassadors for the Pan American Gymnastics Union to help develop acrobatic gymnastics in the Latin American countries at a training facility in Trinidad & Tobago.
  • Tim will graduate from Claudia Taylor Johnson High School and will continue training in acro while he attends San Antonio College studying biology.

From Boerne Gymanatics Center:

Alek Denton

  • Alek has been in acro for three years and is currently in a level 9 mixed pair with his partner, Destiny Galloway
  • Last year, his level nine mixed pair won the silver medal at the 2018 national championships.
  • In addition to competing in acro, Alek has had the opportunity to coach boys gymnastics for BGC for the past 3 years.
  • Alek is graduating from Lutheran High School of San Antonio and will be attending Schreiner University where he received a scholarship for cheerleading.
  • He will be pursuing a degree in exercise science.

Caley Teague

  • Caley is affectionately known by her coach and teammates as “Bebo”
  • She started in acro at the age of six and competed for ten years
  • She is currently the assistant coach for the BGC acro team
  • Caley was a member of the USA Gymnastics 11-16 age group international club team and placed 1st in the 2016 Puerto Rico Acro Cup and 2nd in the 2017 Granada International Tournament in Spain
  • She will be graduating in the top 6% of her class from Boerne High School and will be attending the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University in the fall

Meet the 2018 World Team Members from Texas

Texas is home to 18 of the athletes competing in the 2018 World Age Group Competition and World Championships.The competition will be held in Antwerp, Belgium from April 4 – 15.

World Championships

Sr Elite Women’s Pair – Emily Davis & Aubrey Rosilier

Emily and Aubrey have been partners for two years. Aubrey placed 4th at the 2016 World Age Group Competition in a Jr Elite 12-18 women’s pair with another top. She and Emily began competing as Jr Elite 13-19 in 2017 and took the silver medal at the Geneva Acro Cup. They competed as seniors at nationals and won gold, followed by a 4th place finish at the 2017 World Games in Poland and gold at the Pan American Championships.

 

World Age Group Competition

Jr Elite 13-19 Mixed Pair – Jordan Gruendler & Tim Massa

Jordan and Tim have been partners for two years. Tim has been in acro for five years and has competed in both mixed pair and men’s pair. Jordan competed at the 2016 World Age Group Competition as a top in an 11-16 trio. In 2017, the pair competed as Jr Elite 12-18 and won nationals as well as taking silver at the Geneva Acro Cup and the Pan American Championships.

Jr Elite 12-18 Women’s Group – Sarah Diamond, Elizabeth Kirchner & Lexi Leinonen

Liz and Lexi have been partners for four years. The first two years were with a different top (Jordan, above) and they competed at the 2016 World Age Group Competition in China as an 11-16 trio. Sarah also competed in China as a top in an 11-16 women’s pair. For the last two years, the three girls have competed as a Jr Elite 12-18 trio. In 2017, they were Pan American Champions and took the silver medal at the Geneva Acro Cup.

Jr Elite 12-18 Women’s Pair – Reagan Dubbles & Alex Edwards

Reagan and Alex have been partners for two years. Alex placed 4th in an 11-16 women’s pair at the 2016 World Age Group Competition in China with a different top. Reagan comes from an artistic gymnastics and dance background and this is her first trip to Worlds. In 2017 the pair won Nationals, the Pan American Championships, and the Geneva Acro Cup.

11-16 Women’s Group – Satia Wilson, Caitlyn Mackrell & Schyler Shults

Caitlyn and Schyler have been partners for four years, the first year as a level 8 trio with a different top, and the last three years as an 11-16 trio with Satia. In 2017 they won silver at the Geneva Acro Cup and were US and Pan-American champions.

11-16 Women’s Pair – Kyra Dowling & Angelina Gardner

Kyra and Angie have been partners for two years, and both have been in acro for five years. In 2017, the pair won nationals as well as the all-around title at the Canadian Acro Cup and silver at the Pan American Championships.

11-16 Women’s Pair – Camilla Hernandez & Makena Ludeman

Millie & Makena have been partners for three years — the first as part of an 11-16 trio and the last two years as a pair. They won silver at nationals in 2017 and also secured bronze at the Geneva Acro Cup and gold at the Pan American Championships.

11-16 Women’s Pair – Ximena Suarez & Isabel Medina

Ximena and Isabel have been partners for two years, and they will be representing Mexico at the World Age Group Competition. Isabel comes from artistic gymnastics and this is her first acro partnership. Ximena has been in acro for five years and this is her second trip to Worlds — she was a top in an 11-16 women’s pair at the 2016 competition in China as well.
